Submissions
If you have submitted articles in the past and not received a response, please understand we were having some difficulties with a folder in our inbox. This problem is now solved. Please accept our apologies in overlooking a response to your submission. If you are still interested in publishing with JOLPI, we would appreciate your re-submission to our Journal. Thank you.
Guidelines for
Submitting Manuscripts
The Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest welcomes submissions
from practitioners, academics, and students in diverse areas, including
humans rights law, civil rights, policy, social welfare, education
law and other public interest areas.
The Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest (RJOLPI) requests
that contributors comply with the following standards:
- Please submit all manuscripts by e-mail to: rjolpi@richmond.edu.
E-mail submissions should be sent in Microsoft Word Format. The
e-mail's subject line should indicate this is an article being
submitted for publication consideration.
- In the alternative, please submit by mail three hard copies
of your manuscript along with an electronic copy in Microsoft
Word Format on a 3.5 floppy disk to the following:
Articles Editors
Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest
T.C. Williams School of Law
28 Westhampton Way
Richmond, Virginia 23173
- Submission by e-mail and mail should be accompanied by complete
author contact information including name, physical address, e-mail
address, and phone number(s). Enclosing (attaching) a resume,
a list of previous publications, and/or a vita with the submission,
while not necessary, can also be helpful for the Journal's editors.
- Please use footnotes rather than endnotes. Footnotes
should conform to the 17th Edition of The Bluebook: A Uniform
System of Citation. However, as an interdisciplinary Journal,
we are aware that authors in disciplines outside of law may be
unfamiliar with the Bluebook system of citation. In such cases,
authors should submit articles in the citation form with which
they are most familiar. The Journal editors will work with authors
to convert the cites to the Bluebook format.
- The Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest carefully
considers all manuscripts that it receives. Our selection process
involves several steps: at least two student editors review every
submission, most submissions proceed through a subcommittee process
that includes editors from every level of the Journal, the subcommittee
then makes a determination as to the accessibility of resources,
issues of preemption and other significant publication issues.
Thank you for your interest in the Richmond Journal
of Law and the Public Interest.
