The University of Richmond is an independent, privately-endowed institution of higher education that provides a comprehensive academic program for men and women. It offers the intimacy of a small university and the diverse educational opportunities that derive from undergraduate degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences and in business, as well as graduate and professional programs in law, business and arts and science. The University of Richmond is considered by many to be one of the finest small private universities in the nation.
The Law School is an integral part of the University of Richmond. The law building is situated near the center of campus and allows easy access to the beautiful university facilities, including the athletic and dining centers. Law students represent the Law School on various University committees, and the University Senate provides a means of intercollegiate cooperation between faculties. Although possessing a proud tradition, the Law School continues to keep pace with the changing methods of legal education in order to prepare its graduates for the practice of law.
Accreditation
The law school is fully accredited by the recognized standardizing agencies in the United States. It is a member of the Association of American Law Schools and is on the approved list of the American Bar Association. Although each state has its own requirements for admission to the bar, a law degree from UR Law School qualifies the holder to seek admission to the bar of any state in the nation. Enrollment
Approximately 500 full-time students from 175 undergraduate institutions, 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and abroad.
Campus
The University's 350-acre suburban campus is located six miles west of the center of Richmond, the Capitol of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Adding to the beauty of the campus are a lake, rolling hills, tall pines and Collegiate Gothic buildings. The close proximity to the heart of Richmond provides unsurpassed opportunities for observation and participation in the legal processes of various legislative judicial and at administrative departments within the local, state and federal governments.
Faculty
37 full-time, 60 adjunct faculty. The ratio of students to full time faculty is 18:1.

Computer Capabilities
Firmly committed to ensuring that its students will excel in an increasingly computerized legal profession, the Law School is the nation's first to require that entering law students own a notebook computer and personal printer as a condition of enrollment. With the computer, students access the Law School's extensive local area network on a daily basis, either from their own network-ready individual student carrel located in the Law Library or from outside the Law School building via ethernet or modem. At graduation, students will be experienced users of the type of computer and network applications being used by lawyers in increasing numbers, such as, electronic mail; access to the vast resource of the Internet; and online database searching, including the LEXIS and WESTLAW legal research services.
