Pro Bono Placement Opportunities

Richmond Global Health Alliance (10/17 deadline)

Richmond Global Health Alliance (RGHA) is a group of volunteers interested in global health service and education projects. We plan and participate in international service efforts by faculty, students and alumni of the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. In recent years, the RGHA team has led trips to Peru and implemented projects involving: pediatrics, women's health, dentistry, dermatology, emergency medicine, joint pain, education, and greenhouse construction. Future project goals include international medical and social justice service and education programs. A summer 2013 trip with a team of undergraduate and medical students, along with legal and medical professionals, is being planned for June/July to the Andes Mountains, and Cusco/ Machu Picchu area of Peru. Learn more about us at: rgha.blogspot.com.

JOB DESCRIPTION: RGHA is looking for an energetic law student to join our team for a pro bono volunteer internship during the 2012-13 school year. Time commitment would be estimated at 1 to 3 hours per week. Work would be done from the student's home or school, and in off-campus group meetings with other RGHA team members. Spanish proficiency would be a plus, but not required. Opportunities for summer 2013 international travel with the RGHA team may be available, but not required. The student would work with medical and legal professionals as we design and implement global health service and fundraising projects for the coming year. RGHA is in the process of formalizing our non-profit status by completing application materials for the IRS, and our student volunteer could work on this initiative as well. Our group is committed to collaborative programs in law and medicine with the aim of improving health. A law student with interest in health care, international law, and collaborative medical-legal projects would find this to be a fun and rewarding experience!
