Living in Richmond
Richmond is a lively cultural hub with first-rate arts, entertainment, dining, and nightlife. It features neighborhoods such as Carytown, an urban district containing hundreds of distinctive shops and eateries. Frommer's cited Richmond's growing slate of breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, and historic sites and museums in naming it one of the top destinations for 2014. And if you decide to head out of town, we're just two hours from the nation’s capital, the ocean, or the mountains.
Richmond’s James River Park System is one of the nation's largest, and it’s the reason that Outside magazine recently named Richmond one of the "Best River towns in America." In fact, Richmond is the the only urban setting with Class III and IV rapids. You can kayak, tube, snorkel, swim, hike, fish, run, or bike to your heart's content—without leaving town.
Campus Wellness, Culture & Sports
Law students have access to a broad array of campus resources including the Weinstein Center for Recreation and Wellness, an award-winning facility that offers a pool, an indoor track, a large weight room, and indoor squash and tennis courts, as well as club and intramural sports. You’ll also find ample opportunities to attend arts performances, exhibits, lectures, and sporting events within easy walking distance.
Richmond Law has more than 35 student organizations. Our student organizations provide multiple and varied opportunities for students to connect with their peers, pursue areas of particular interest, and interact with experts in those fields. Our moot court teams compete and win all over the country, and our chapters of national organizations earn awards and recognition.
A Top-Flight University
Law students benefit from their place at the heart of the University of Richmond, a highly selective national liberal arts institutional offering undergraduate and graduate degrees through its five schools. The campus is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful in the country, with its own lake and tree-lined paths, as well as outstanding fitness, wellness, and sports options.
