The Law School Association
Robert (Rob) N. Baldwin, R'67, L'70
President of the Law School Association
Board of Directors
Often I am reminded of some activity or relationship which I once enjoyed but have allowed to become dormant. Why does this occur? Naturally it is easy to blame it on the fast-paced, crowded nature of our lives. For me it is because I do not exert an affirmative effort to keep those things, once special and meaningful, as a part of my routine. On occasion something happens to reintroduce an activity into my life and more often than not it provides needed enrichment.
Thus is often the case with our connection to our law school. Recently a friend encouraged me to renew my commitment to the law school through membership in the Law School Alumni Association. What a rewarding experience! Now as President of the Association I urge you to make the affirmative effort to reconnect with the law school.
The Law School is thriving on many fronts. The academic standing of the school continues to increase with new emphasis on intellectual property, environmental law and family law. Recruitment of faculty who excel in both teaching and scholarship continues to be a strong tradition. The technology and information services programs available are first-class. The breadth and scope of course offerings are without comparison in the school’s history. In short, you should be extremely proud of how the school has maintained the core traditions of the past while transitioning to the very best in modern legal education.
With a new Dean, John G. Douglass, and with the energetic support of a new University President, Edward L. Ayers, the future of the law school has never been brighter. Please join us and share in the experience of being a part of this dynamic place. There are many ways to participate- attending alumni events, hiring recent graduates, or serving on Boards and committees. Each will be rewarding in its own way and if you are like me, you will wonder why you waited so long to be active again.
