President

 

Kristen McNeal is a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina.  She graduated in 2006 from Howard University where she obtained her B.A. in Administration of Justice and Spanish.  In addition to serving as President, she is a member of the Richmond Journal of Law & Technology and the Co-Chair of the Student Advisory Committee on Diversity and Dialogue.  This summer, she interned with a NC District Court Judge and a litigation firm.  Upon graduation, she hopes to become a successful litigator. 

 

Vice President

Hafeeza Rashed is originally from Woodinville, Washington. She graduated in 2004 from Spelman College where she obtained a B.A. in Political Science and minored in Economics. She obtained her teacher's certification in 2006.  In addition to serving as Vice President, she works with the Legal Information Network for Cancer, a nonprofit organization, and is a member of Client Counseling and Negotiations Board.  Upon graduation, she hopes to join a nonprofit organization working with refugees.

Sydney Avery, a second year law student, hails from Brevard, North Carolina; the "Land of Waterfalls."  She attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2006.  Between 2006 and 2007, Avery worked for Caring for Children, Inc.; an umbrella organization that performs social work, community support and family reunification for children ages 1 to 18 and their families.  Now, Avery proudly serves as the BLSA treasurer for the 2008-2009 academic year. 

 

1L Representative

DeVon Simmons is a first year law student at the University of Richmond.  He is originally from Buffalo, New York and grew up in Richmond, Virginia.  He graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Sociology.  Additionally, he is an active member of the International Law Society and a Law Student Admissions Representative.  Upon graduation, he plans to work in international law. 

  

Ex- Oficio

Brittany Scott is a native of Greenville, South Carolina.  She graduated in 2006 from Furman University where she obtained her B.A. in Political Science and Spanish.  In addition to serving as President, she is an active member of the Hispanic Community Legal Liaison Committee.  She teaches Hispanic children at a local elementary school their English coursework and serves as an on-hand translator for the school.  Upon graduation, she hopes to become an immigration attorney.

Professor Henry L. Chambers, Jr.

Henry Chambers is a graduate of  University of Virginia and University of Virginia School of Law.  He has been a Professor of Law at the University of Richmond  since 2004.  He teaches Criminal Law, White Collar Crime, Law & Economics, Sexual Harassment, Evidence, and Employment Discrimination.

Professor Jonathan K. Stubbs

Jonathan Stubbs is a graduate of Haverford College, Oxford University, Yale University, and Harvard University.  He has been a Professor of  Law at the University of Richmond since 1989.  He teaches in Contracts, International Law, Human Rights, Jurisprudence, Legal Writing, and Professional Responsibility.
