Janet D. Hutchinson
Associate Dean for Career Development
Prior to joining the School of Law in 2012, she was the assistant dean for career services at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Ga. She also has served as the Attorney Recruiting and Development Manager for the Atlanta office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, worked in Northwestern Law's Center for Career Strategy & Advancement, and practiced law in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park.
Director of Professional Development Programs
Carole Yeatts advises students and alumni on a wide variety of career-related matters and creates and delivers professional development programs to prepare them for life-long career management. Prior to joining the School of Law in 2013, she worked for the Virginia State Bar, the McCammon Group, and held positions in the marketing and professional development departments at Troutman Sanders.
Director of Public Sector Careers
Valerie L'Herrou advises students and alumni pursuing positions in government agencies and non-profit organizations. She is also the CDO expert on judicial clerkships and collaborates with the CDO and faculty judicial clerkship committee on the application process. Since graduating from the School of Law in 2006, Valerie served as an assistant public defender in Charlottesville. Before attending law school, she worked at Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault.
Director of Career Development for Alumni Advising and Employer Outreach
Liz Jones advises recent graduates on all aspects of their career development. She also focuses on expanding alumni and employer relations to increase the network of opportunities and information available to students and graduates. After graduating from the School of Law in 2009, Liz practiced law as a commercial litigation associate at Venable LLP in Washington, D.C. At Venable, Liz was actively involved in the firm's summer associate program, and related recruiting and hiring efforts.
Kym Osterbind is the Recruiting Coordinator for the Career Development Office. She manages all aspects of the law school's Fall and Spring recruitment programs, oversees the online recruitment software to promote job opportunities to students, provides career management system training sessions for students and assistance to employers, and coordinates the on-campus interview process and the law school's annual off-campus recruitment programs and job fairs in Atlanta, Williamsburg, Boston, and Richmond.
Susan Manning is the Administrative Coordinator for the Career Development Office. In this role, Susan coordinates a variety of career development activities including appointments, programs and workshops, job postings and the collection of various career-related information. Susan is a native Texan and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining the School of Law in 2012, Susan worked in the fitness and sales industries.
