Essay Topic: The conference's central theme this year will be "Financial Services: What does the future hold?" Students must write about one of the following topics fo this year's papers: 1. What are the merits and problems of current "Law and Economics" theories? 2. Who should have the primary responsibility for regulating transnational financial service businesses, individual countries or the international community? 3. Privacy, transparency and financial services: constitutional issues.
Prize Information: First Prize: $800
Second Prize: $600
Third Prize: $400
Notes: 1. The paper must be originial and must be on one of the topics set forth. The paper may be prepared in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French. 2. The maximum length for the paper shall be 20 pages, double-spaced, excluding foot/end notes. 3. The paper's cover page must include the title of the paper, the author's name and address, and the name of the law school where the author is studying. 4. Each paper must be accompanied by a certification issued by the law school the author attends, indicating that he/she is currently enrolled as a law student. 5. Copies of the papers must be received no later than April 20, 2009 and submitted via mail to each member of the committee. The papers and their required annexes may also be sent via email to iaba@iaba.org and the IABA will forward them to the evaluation committe.
