This conference will honor the 40th anniversary of San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez, 411 U.S. 1 (1973), which held that the federal constitution did not guarantee a right to education. The conference will bring together scholars, educators, and practitioners to examine the state of educational opportunity in the United States, to critique the effectiveness of existing efforts to advance equal educational opportunity and to develop and analyze novel approaches to achieving this important national goal.
