Volume VII, Issue 2, Fall 2000

Letter From the Editor

Welcome to the second issue of The Richmond Journal of Law and Technology's seventh publication term. As we near the halfway point of this term, the Journal is stronger than ever. Our continued growth and success is due in large part to the dedication of our staff and Editorial Board. This year we will publish four issues and will hold a symposium on the soon-to-be-enacted Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act ("UCITA"). The symposium will be held on March 2, 2001. Registration for and information on the symposium will be available on our website soon.

This special issue will document the events of two conferences: The University of Richmond's Ninth Annual Austin Owen Symposium and Lecture and The Eighteenth Annual National Regulatory Conference. The Austin Owen Symposium provided a substantive overview of three areas of technology law which are relevant, timely, and controversial: business method patents, consumer privacy on the Internet, and the UCITA. The Regulatory Conference covers the issue of consumer choice in electric utilities.

In addition to providing our readers with the substance of those events, this issue breaks new ground for the Journal. Taking full advantage of our online capabilities, we have made several of the PowerPoint presentations from the conferences available to our readers. These presentations are available only to users of a recent version of Internet Explorer. We hope you enjoy this new feature.

In this issue we offer our readers over 30 presentations by legal practitioners, members of the technology industry, scholars, and representatives of the business community. Issue 2 offers a broad range of topics from a broad range of presenters and I am sure you will find it useful and informative.

Thank you for visiting The Richmond Journal of Law and Technology. As always, we welcome your comments, suggestions, general feedback, and submissions at jolt@richmond.edu. Thank you for your readership and your continued support of our publication.
