OK, that's it! I've finally heard about the worst "entertainment" law suit in the history of the movie industry. Ready? While filming the recently released movie Apt Pupil, the directors needed a brief nudity shower scene in the men's locker room of the high school. So, they asked 8 of the extras on the set if they would disrobe. The boys did and the non-frontal nudity scene was shot. No touching, sex, or any of that sort of thing, just 8 guys standing around showering.
Doesn't sound like any big deal, right? WRONG! These 8 wanna be actors turn around and sue the producer and director of the movie for "ruining" their movie career and intentional infliction of emotional distress? Why? Because these guys are claiming that they were "forced"to disrobe in front of the camera because they felt that if they did not comply, they would not be in the movie. They further claim that they had nightmares from this "incident" and are no longer able to trust adults and authority figures. And, the best part, now that they are suing the director and producer, they know that no other director will want them for another movie so their giant film career is over. You've got to be kidding me!
I have been involved with the entertainment industry for over 6 years and trust me, if you don't want to get nude, no one forces you. And, on the off chance that you do, I have never heard of (or experienced) any "side effects". This is just a couple of guys who realized that they are never going to amount to anything in Hollywood so they decided to try to make some money the only they way they can (and like most people in Tinsel Town) they tried to pull a big scam. One can only hope that a judge can see through their bad acting.
Enough ranting and raving.... have you checked out the new channel by the same people who brought us E!? It's called Style and it is an entire channel devoted to cooking, architecture, fashion, shopping, models, and the like. It is basically a channel of E's MODEL and Fashion Emergency with some cooking shows and a 90's version of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous thrown in Actually, it's not that bad. E! has been showing previews all month and if want it for yourself you can call 1-800-GET-STYLE (although it does seem like one too many digits).
Speaking of style, the holidays are right around the corner. Did you know that the average person gains 5 lbs. during those 2 weeks! Now that you have screamed (or shrieked, whatever the case maybe) what can you do about it? First off, don't kill yourself. The holidays are a time to enjoy the festivities and food. So don't shy away from the pies and cookies. Just don't over do it. If you continue your exercise routine at home (this is of course assuming that you have one) then you should be ok. If for some reason you can't, take some walks (away from the food) with your family or by yourself. Remember, this is your holiday break, after what you've just been through with Fall semester, you've earned it. After all, come January, you will be back on your starving law student budget where you can't afford a real meal. So stock up while its free!
Happy Holidays! See you in 1999!
