Halloween

As I'm sitting here thinking about what to write, I can't stop thinking about the Halloween party. Being that October is wrapping up rather quickly, and the SBA Halloween party is approaching, this seems like the only appropriate topic.

What is Halloween anyway? What's the point? I remember being in elementary school and Halloween was exciting because of all the candy and all the cute, "appropriate" costumes. Being that we are all soon to be "professionals," why are we still celebrating a "child's holiday"? I'm just wondering why, as adults, we still get excited about the idea of Halloween.

Costumes are inevitably the highlight of Halloween…besides the candy. As an adult, it seems that we are very limited on what we choose to wear. Especially as a female! Every year, around this time, I hear about all the different costume ideas, and it really makes me wonder. Being that choices are limited, I think the most difficult question that arises for females is deciding whether to go "sexy" or "scary."

I have to say…there are way too many females choosing the sexy route. Where's the creativity? I have to wonder…is Halloween just an excuse to dress a little more provocatively? I mean, I know its Halloween…but when is it too much?

I know this article will not be published until after the Halloween party, so I'm curious to hear about the costumes this year. Even though I will not be attending the party, I know that I'll definitely hear the latest gossip of who was wearing what. There will probably be a few groups that create their own costumes and do a "group thing." The group costume idea has potential to be very funny and creative, but only when done right! I'd also really like to know if the females this year went sexy, scary, or creative.

*Note: I originally said "skanky" instead of "sexy," but I'm sure all who are reading this get the point. After a lovely conversation with a dear friend, I decided to change my terminology for the purposes of this article.
