The Richmond Journal of Law

and the Public Interest

Fall 1996 - vol. II no. 1

Editorial Notes

The Editorial Board notes the remarkable evolution of the American Presidency during the twentieth century. American participation in multinational conflicts and alliances has led to the emergence of the Presidency as a truly global office. At the same time, the fractionalization of the American political system and the intense scrutiny of the Presidency by both the press and the public have profoundly limited the powers of the Presidency in almost every area. With this in mind, the Board wishes to explore the challenges facing this crucial Office as it moves into and through the twenty-first century.
