    Professor Moenssens is a professor emeritus of the law school, having served as professor of law from 1973-1995. He is also a professor emeritus at the University of Missouri at Kansas City Law School, where he served from 1996-2002. Professor Moenssens is co-editor in chief of the Wiley Encyclopedia of Forensic Science, and is a member of the editorial board of The Forensic Institute Research Network e-Journal. Prior to pursuing a legal education in the United States, Moessens studied in his home country of Belgium. He was elected "Distinguished Fellow" by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in 2005, and was the first recipient of the Harold A. Feder Jurisprudence Section Award from the academy in 1998. His many publications include chapters and books on forensic science and scientific evidence in criminal cases.
