Janet Hutchinson, Associate Dean for Career Development
Dean Hutchinson manages the creation and delivery of a comprehensive career development program for Richmond Law students and alumni. Prior to joining the School of Law in 2012, she was the assistant dean for career services at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Ga. She also has served as the Attorney Recruiting and Development Manager for the Atlanta office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, worked in Northwestern Law's Center for Career Strategy & Advancement, and practiced law in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. Dean Hutchinson received a B.A. in Journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. and her J.D. from Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Carole Yeatts Timberlake, Director of Professional Development Programs
Carole Timberlake advises students and alumni on a wide variety of career-related matters and creates and delivers professional development programs to prepare them for life-long career management. Prior to joining the School of Law in 2013, she worked for the Virginia State Bar, the McCammon Group, and held positions in the marketing and professional development departments at Troutman Sanders. She also coached lawyers and firms on issues related to business and professional development and client relations through CYT Consulting LLC. Carole received her undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and her J.D. from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Valerie L'Herrou, Director of Public Sector Careers
Valerie L'Herrou advises students and alumni pursuing positions in government agencies and non-profit organizations. She is also the CDO expert on judicial clerkships and collaborates with the CDO and faculty judicial clerkship committee on the application process. Since graduating from the School of Law in 2006, Valerie served as an assistant public defender in Charlottesville. Before attending law school, she worked at Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault. Valerie is very active in her community, including roles with the criminal bar and other governmental and non-profit boards and organizations.
Kym Osterbind, Recruiting Coordinator
Kym Osterbind is the Recruiting Coordinator for the Career Development Office. She manages all aspects of the law school's Fall and Spring recruitment programs, oversees the online recruitment software to promote job opportunities to students, provides career management system training sessions for students and assistance to employers, and coordinates the on-campus interview process and the law school's annual off-campus recruitment programs and job fairs in North Carolina, Atlanta, Williamsburg, Boston, and Richmond. She is the current Symplicity Liaison for the Southeastern Minority Job Fair and Co-Chair of the New England Interview Program. Prior to her employment at the law school, Kym was employed as a paralegal in several law firms in Chesterfield County, Va.
