Miracle Amo, L'23

The Richmond Law & Business Forum is excited to spotlight some of our founding student board members! This member spotlight features Miracle Amo, a student at Richmond Law who helped organize the Forum’s event entitled “Understanding Your Client’s Market (And Your Own)” and “Business 101: Tips on Reading Your Client’s Balance Sheet.” She is also planning a Business Law over Dinner event in the spring with lawyers who practice in the area of business litigation.

Why did you decide to join the Richmond Law & Business Forum?

I decided to join the Richmond Law & Business Forum to become involved in the creation of an organization that I believe will play an important role in developing the newest class of business leaders here at the University of Richmond. I also have a strong interest in business law and wanted to connect with students that shared those interests.

As one of the founding board members of the Richmond Law & Business Forum, what are your goals for the organization?

My goals for the Forum are to foster a space where students will have the opportunity to discover and cultivate their interest in business law and to host unique experiences that will allow students to engage in a fun way. As someone who is the product of mentorship, I intend to help the Forum build up a strong mentorship and business law alumni community. This will enable students to create and maintain strong ties with mentors who have been in their shoes and will be a source of valuable insight and encouragement. I hope that every student who participates in the Forum feels supported and connected with similar career-minded peers during their law school journey.

What are your own career goals?

After spending a couple of years working on the business services side of law firms, my career goal is to practice business law in Washington, DC. While I am still working on narrowing my interests, I believe that my time in the Forum will definitely provide me with the opportunity to expand my knowledge about business law and further evaluate how I can best use my strengths in the legal field.

What is your favorite thing about Richmond Law?

My favorite part of Richmond Law is the community. My 1L year was like no other, but through the efforts of the administration, faculty, and students we were still able to maintain some semblance of normalcy. I have received a lot of support during my time here, and for that I am grateful.
