Fannon Joins Faculty as Externship Director
Alexandra “Ali” Silva Fannon has joined the University of Richmond Law School as Director of Externships. Formerly known as the clinical placement program, the externship program is a core component of the Law School’s experiential education offerings.
Fannon comes to Richmond Law after serving as Executive Director of the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation, where she launched and managed the volunteer track for the Foundation’s Pro Bono Clearing House and helped develop the Voluntary Eviction Diversion Program.
“Professor Fannon is a fantastic addition to the Richmond Law faculty,” said Dean Wendy Perdue. “Her strong ties to the Richmond legal community, combined with her leadership and legal skills, will be a great benefit to our students.”
Fannon also previously served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Richmond. She is actively involved in the Richmond legal community, including her roles as Vice Chair of the Virginia State Bar’s Access to Legal Services Committee, member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Pro Bono Council, and member of the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association’s Judicial Candidate Endorsement Committee.
As Director of the Externships, Fannon will spearhead the program that matches dozens of students with real-life civil, criminal, in-house, and judicial placements across Richmond. Students earn academic credit while developing skills in the field.
