Recognizing Distinguished Faculty
Corts Named Distinguished Educator and Giorgetti Named Distinguished Scholar
Richmond Law is pleased to announce our distinguished faculty who were recognized at University Colloquy this week.
The Distinguished Educator Award honors excellence in teaching and the Distinguished Scholarship Award recognizes outstanding contributions in scholarship, as documented through published research, scholarship, or creative expression.
Professor Christopher Corts received the 2024 Law Distinguished Educator Award. A member of the Richmond Law faculty since 2013, Professor Corts devotes boundless energy to students, providing individualized feedback, countless hours of one-on-one meetings, and careful collaboration with his colleagues. In addition, Professor Corts is a leader in the field of professional identity formation, which helps students forge identities as lawyers without sacrificing the principles that attracted them to the legal profession. In 2018, he developed a well-being program called Just Practice, where students meet regularly to socialize, reflect on professional development, and explore a range of contemplative practices designed to help them fight burnout by cultivating a sense of meaning and purpose in their professional lives.
Professor Chiara Giorgetti received the 2024 Law Distinguished Scholarship Award. A recognized leader in international dispute resolution, Professor Giorgetti has been a member of the law faculty since 2018. She was elected last year to the Board of the Register of Damage for Ukraine, an organization created by the Council of Europe to register injury, damages, and loss as a consequence of Russia’s invasion, where she serves as vice-chair. She is also a senior fellow at International Claims and Reparations Project at Columbia Law School.
Congratulations to both award recipients!
