Professor Jessica Erickson has been recognized for two of the top Corporate and Securities Law articles of 2024

Professor Jessica Erickson has been recognized by leading business law scholars for co-authoring two of the top articles in the field of corporate and securities law for 2024.

Her article, “Paying for Performance? Attorneys’ Fees in Fraud Class Actions,” published in the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies with Stephen Choi and A.C. Pritchard, was selected from a pool of over 300 scholarly publications, and named to the list of Top 10 Corporate and Securities Articles of 2024.

The recognition comes from the Corporate Practice Commentator, which conducts an annual poll of corporate and securities law professors to identify the most influential articles of the year. Now in its 31st year, the poll is a hallmark of excellence in the field, tracking developments and thought leadership in corporate law since 1994.

Erickson’s article stood out not only for its industry insight, but also as the only selection this year published in a peer-reviewed journal—a distinction in a list typically dominated by traditional law review articles.

In addition, her other article published in 2024 also received recognition from her peers. “The Business of Securities Class Action Lawyering”, published in the Indiana Law Journal with Stephen Choi and A.C. Pritchard, was selected as one of the top securities articles of the year and will be reprinted in an anthology published by Thomson Reuters.

The Nancy Litchfield Hicks Professor of Law, Erickson’s research focuses on corporate law, corporate governance, and securities regulation and litigation. She is also founding director of the Richmond Law & Business Forum, which connects law students with practicing business attorneys for in-depth discussions on legal careers in the corporate sector.

Her scholarship has appeared in leading publications including the Vanderbilt Law Review, Notre Dame Law Review, Boston University Law Review, and William & Mary Law Review, among others.
