Summer Book Read

The new 2020 Summer Book Read program invites all members of the Richmond Law Community to read and discuss a selected book on a social justice issue.

This year's selection is Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Stevenson is a human rights lawyer and founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to fighting poverty and challenging racial discrimination in the criminal justice system. Just Mercy is a powerful portrait of death row inmates that Stevenson has defended, including the wrongfully convicted, juvenile offenders, poor inmates with ineffective representation, and others impeded by racial bias and prosecutorial misconduct.

You can learn more about the book (including links to purchase) and its film adaption here.

Participants are assigned to small group discussions at the following dates and times. Questions? Please contact Professor Janice Craft at jcraft@richmond.edu
