Con law expert Kurt Lash to join Richmond Law faculty

One of the country’s leading constitutional law scholars, Professor Kurt T. Lash, will join the University of Richmond School of Law starting in the 2017-2018 school year. Professor Lash currently serves on the faculty at the University of Illinois College of Law, where he is the Guy Raymond Jones Chair in Law and the Co-Director for the Program in Constitutional Theory, History, and Law.

“Professor Lash’s contributions to the field of constitutional law have shaped our legal and historical understanding of the Bill of Rights, the Reconstruction Amendments, and the rule of the courts,” said Wendy Perdue, Dean of Richmond Law.

Professor Lash is an expert on the Ninth and Fourteenth Amendments, authoring The Reconstruction Amendments: The Essential Documents (under contract with University of Chicago Press), The Fourteenth Amendment and the Privileges and Immunities of American Citizenship (Cambridge University Press), and The Lost History of the Ninth Amendment (Oxford University Press). He has also published articles in the Stanford Law Review, Virginia Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, Northwestern Law Review, and Notre Dame Law Review, among others. His work has been cited by the Supreme Court and U.S. Courts of Appeals on numerous occasions. Professor Lash is a graduate of Yale Law School and he clerked for Judge Robert Beezer on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
